(More customer reviews)I honestly do not understand all of the negative reviews for this iced tea maker. My family has tried many and this has been the best. I love the fact that I do not have to use just the pitcher that came with the unit. Sure, they do not mention that in the manual or anything, but you really can line up any pitcher under this thing to receive the tea. True, the glass pitcher that comes with it does seem thin and fragile. However, I do not use it so it is not a concern for me. I wasn't planning on using it when I bought it. I use a completely different shaped, BPA-free pitcher that holds 4 quarts. I fill the tea maker with the required amount of water, lay in the tea bags, and set the strength. I then fill my pitcher with cold water to the required level, add sugar, lime and lemon juice, then press the button. I have tea about 6 to 8 minutes later. I've never had the problem with the machine starting to brew the moment I plug it in.
So - to sum things up: stop locking yourself in with having to use the manufacturer's pitcher (or having to replace it when it breaks, cracks or leaks like I've seen happen so many times with the Mr. Coffee machines). This machine gives you that freedom and it just works - and works well. Not to mention the parts are dishwasher safe. The tea tastes great.

Waring Pro YM350 Professional Yogurt Maker Review

(More customer reviews)I picked this up at a B&M store because I couldn't find the Cuisipro yogurt maker locally, and I didn't want to wait for shipping.
Overall, it's a great yogurt maker. Very easy to use, and it makes delicious yogurt. I really like that it comes with two different sizes of jars, so you can choose to make either individual servings or two larger amounts. Also, mine turns itself off when the cycle is done, although I can't find mention online or in the instruction book about an auto-off. The black and chrome matches my other kitchen appliances, so I don't have to hide it away with my other few white gadgets that don't match the rest of the kitchen.
The one issue I have with this yogurt maker: The base is large enough to hold 7 of the single-serve jars. The recipes in the book that comes with it makes enough for 7 jars. But it only comes with 6 jars. This is a little frustrating, as you end up wasting some of the milk mixture when you use it.
Replacement jars are available for order if you call Waring's customer service, and I plan on buying an extra set, anyway, so I can make the next batch before the first is used up. But I am really annoyed that they don't even give you enough jars in the first place. So now I will actually have to order 8 to make two sets of 7.
Otherwise....It's a great product.

You freeze the bowl, make your mix of whatever you want, and just pop it on and you have soft ice cream in 5 minutes, thicker ice cream in about 10 minutes. Makes 1 large bowl of ice cream, but you can make two batches with the double bowl. Also this doesn't take a whole lot of space up, so it's good if you don't have a whole lot of storage (which I don't). I can't wait to make fruit sorbet and smoothies with fresh fruit in the summer. I really like this because you control all the ingredients, so it's really good if you have food allergies, or diet restrictions. You could make fruit sorbets with spenda or honey - so this would be great if on a diet. The only thing, this doesn't mash fruit - so if you want to make something with fruit and want it really smooth, run it through a blender first. I just chopped a banana really small and it made for some great chunky banana ice cream :) Definetly worth the money- Great Buy!

It is unbelievably hard to crank, he always had to do it because I literally could not turn the crank more than a couple of inches either way. It broke off internal plastic pieces the very first time we used it, and more pieces broke off each time, until after using it about six times, it was completely unusable. This is a very expensive ice crusher that looks like it is quality because it appears to be all metal. Do not be fooled. Many interior pieces are plastic, and break immediately. This was a complete waste of money.

The ice cream texture is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! very little air is blended in with the cream mixture. All in all there is just enough air that the machine allows for the smooth and creamy texture. I have actually invented ice cream recipes which are quite good. My only problem with this is the relatively small volume - it makes just 1 1/2 quarts of ice cream. The blender worked great and since our friends kept talking about how good it looked, I figured I'd give it a good review. The blender jar is huge (I think it's 1.5 liters) - it's perfect for parties. It also has some rubber feet to keep it from shaking and bouncing around. We made a ton of frozen drinks and it handled ice cubes without any problems. I'm using it for my daily smoothies too.

It's simply a Drink Mixer. There are many other Drink Mixers on the market that are well known quality brands. The reason I chose this product is that I expected, like any restaurant Milk-shake maker, that it would be able to break up the ice necessary for a milkshake. It doesn't. In fact, the directions warn to only use crushed ice, not ice cubes. The whole purpose of a milkshake maker is to brake down and blend ice to be used with the ingredients. Any common blender would do better at making milkshakes than this thing. This is deceptive advertising. Only buy this if you have difficulty stirring drinks with a spoon.

Viatek Duo Treat Ice Cream Maker Review

(More customer reviews)The air of the normal freezer (at least my freezer) is not cold enough to freeze the mixture fast enough to make smooth ice cream. It doesn't mix fast enough to keep the outer, frozen parts of the mixture stirred in to the center so it stops when the outer part is icy and the center is still liquid - which then freezes too hard to be called ice cream. Also, the cold causes the batteries to drain faster. Can be fun if you have kids and want to make a couple of flavours at once but if you want real ice cream, get a real ice cream maker.
Edited (5 months later) to add: for awhile the Duo Treat was not available. Now that it is available again they have a different picture for it. It's possible they've come out with a new model that addresses some of the problems listed above (then again, maybe not).

The one type are the people who give this product a negative review because they can't follow some simple instructions, and the other being the people who will be put off buying this blender because of the first. I have been using this device a lot for a while now and the bottom line is that it works great. Just as with anything else, as long as you take care of it properly then it will last a while. The whole thing is extremely easy to put together and take apart. I was able to figure it out with common sense and not even reading the directions the first time I put it together. I later went back and read the instructions to confirm what I had already figured out. I have blended using both the cups and the big blender jar and I am proud to report that it has fully blended all of my fresh AND frozen fruit until totally smooth with no big chunks of fruit. As a lesson to the other negative reviewers here are a few common sense points I have put together for you and others that may have problems. #1 - A blender is supposed to be loud (in case you have never used one before) #2 - If you are blending a smoothie, the more you blend/pulse the smoother it will be! If you only blend for 10 seconds then you will have a lot of chunks of fruit. There's a reason why most if not all of the smoothie recipes tell you to add liquid as well. I RARELY write reviews on amazon but I felt compelled to after reading the ridiculous negative reviews of this blender. Enjoy!

(More customer reviews)The ice cream maker was easy to assemble but it would not quite freeze the ice cream enough. The plastic parts seem like they are designed to last about 2 weeks. I had to run it an extra 15 minutes and even then the ice cream was runny but the motor was about to burn up. The ice cream was good after I froze it overnight but I would stick to the conventional ice and salt method after this experience. Mine is going back to the place I bought it.

If you are looking for a diet or low calorie option, this may work for you, but hiding artificial sweetener in normal products will always disappoint those of us that can taste the difference. Just buy the Gevalia Black Iced Coffee, 16-Count T-Discs for Tassimo Coffeemakers (Pack of 2) and add your own sugar and milk and you end up with a very nice iced coffee option. Unfortunately it requires dissolving the sugar and having a refrigerator and milk available.

Culligan IC-EZ-1 EZ-Change Icemaker/Drinking Water Filter, 3,000 Gallons Review

(More customer reviews)My refrigerator has an ice maker, but no built-in filter. For years, I had been buying the snap in in-line type, but the prices have been creeping up and the availability has been diminishing.
This Culligan model has them beat. The price is good, it's easy to install, and very easy to replace cartridges. If you have an existing plastic water line, installation is trivial. This also works with copper lines, and is not much more difficult to use with them, except the instructions are not clear. The outside box says you can use either copper or plastic, but the included instructions don't mention the copper, or the additional tools needed to file the edge as the outside box mentions. Despite this, installation is trivial enough that it's not likely to be an issue.
If you do have copper, and need to fit things in a tight space, you might need to replace one end of the tube with plastic since short lengths of copper are relatively inflexible.
I also got one for my instant hot water tap on my kitchen sink. It's not "specially designed" for it as are the ones that are recommended for those, but they all take the same size tubes and have cold water coming in and going out. This one is far cheaper, does everything I want to make the water taste good, and there are enough Culligan options for anybody who wants a different level of filtration that you can pick what you need.
UPDATE:
Two years later, I removed it. It was not that there was any problem, but I installed a whole house filtration system and it was no longer needed. That showed me two things: First, the taste of the water did not change, meaning the Culligan worked just as well for me as the far more expensive system, at least with respect to taste. Second, it had been slowing down the flow of water on my instant hot water dispenser. The flow was noticeably faster without it, but I would not consider the slow down an inconvenience at least with respect to filling glasses or cups. Filling a pot of water is a different story, but the difference is understandable and what should be expected with this type of filter.
