Bodum Ceylon Iced Tea Maker with Filter Review

This pitcher does what it says, but after using it for a few months I have to wonder if this pitcher is special enough to warrant the price. The 'pull in-pull out' compartment that holds tea bags or lemons is nice. But the plastic is so thin after a few uses it starts to warp out of shape. If youre not supposed to pour hot water in the pitcher, what is the point of using it? I really like the slim-ness of the pitcher overall (fits in the fridge well), and I don't mind its small capacity, but its overall fragile build leaves me wishing the manufacturers would have just created something more sturdy. I'd say someone is better off just brewing tea in a regular tupperware pitcher for half the price.

Nature itself provides the most delightful tastes, and tea is one of them. Making ice tea in a natural way may not be as fast as opening a bag of powder and mixing it with water, but if you are conscious about what you fill your body with, the Bodum Ceylon Ice Tea Maker is a true, simple to use, alternative and the results are worth your small efforts. Add your preferred tea leaves, due to the infusing filter you can use your favorite loose tea or bags if you prefer. Fill the pitcher half way with your hot water, allow to steep. Once steeped to your taste remove the infusing filter and fill pitcvher with cool water. Brew stronger tea to allow you to pour the tea into glasses filled with ice. The SAN plastic tea maker holds 50 oz and will fit in most fridges.

Koolatron Vending Fridge Review

Koolatron Vending Fridge
Average Reviews:

One day I looked at my "Man Cave Command Center" and I asked myself, "How can I revamp my creation to look even more appealing?"
As I searched online, I found this little machine. There are three colors: RED, BLUE, and SILVER. I chose blue since it's my favorite color. The Red and Blue only vary in color, but the function of it is still the same. As for the Silver Edition version, it has a coin operated slot where you can either add coins or use the special tokens that come with it. That, to me, comes in handy if you work in a place where people try to leech off your sodas! Ha!
The Koolatron Mini-Vending machine wows many friends of mine when they come into my room. You'll be amazed at how this little machine doesn't consume much space. In fact, it only stands about 18 1/2 inches with a length of little over 12 inches. I enjoy sitting at my computer station and when I get thirsty, all I have to do is press the button. The temperature of the drinks are perfect.
I don't mind the small sound that is emitted from the vending machine since I have my music blaring in the background. This is an awesome creation! I love it!

A fun addition to any game room or workshop, this personal vending machine keeps up to 10 12-ounce cans of any favorite beverage cold and easily accessible. The unit holds four cans in each of its two separate dispensing sections and two additional cans in its pre-chilling section. Two beverage cans can be positioned in the front display window, with a lighted button below each for dispensing the beverage of choice. To get started with the customized vending machine, simply place the unit at least 4 inches away from the wall and within 6 feet of an outlet, plug it in, press the button on the side to open the cooling compartment, fill with cans, and allow up to eight hours for the cans to get cold. The unit's quiet thermoelectric cooling system cools cans down to 32 degrees F below the ambient room temperature, and a reliable microcomputer inside the machine manages both the cooling and vending systems. Other highlights include a power "on" switch, an "on" indicator light, and an easy-to-clean design. With a low power consumption of just 65 watts, the vending-machine fridge weighs 18 pounds and measures 12-5/8 by 12-1/4 by 18-1/4 inches.

Margaritaville DM3000 Tahiti Frozen Concoction Maker Review

Margaritaville DM3000 Tahiti Frozen Concoction Maker
Average Reviews:

Ok, so like almost everyone who is reading this review...my first thought was "Why am I going to pay THAT kind of money for a hyped up blender!" I can sum it up in two words...snowball fight!
Seriously though, I took the plunge and am not upset that I did. This makes a great addition to any party, whether it's a couple of friends, or a crowd. And nobody's walking around chewing on ice chips from their blender drinks! My kids love the shaved ice to play with, and it makes great snowcones/slushies.
Setup is easy, cleanup is easy (seriously), the only problem that I have found so far is creating the right recipes for the drinks. It comes with some standards...but I like to play!
Originally, my wife wanted to get a professional maker, but we found they were thousands of dollars. After buying the DM3000, we could care less about the profession model anymore...this one makes 3 different drinks in a cycle, is fun to watch, and easier to maintain! It is quick and effortless, especially if you pre-mix your drink ingredients and have them on standby.
In my opinion, if you have the extra money to spare, and you like to have friends over or have kids, this is a great product!

Margaritaville DM2000 Premium Frozen Concoction Maker Review

Margaritaville DM2000 Premium Frozen Concoction Maker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First, I would rate it a 3.5
I purchased this item as I was tired of low quality drink mixers... I purchased the FIJI as it was the newest model out. It has a larger Ice holder and different settings for margaritas, daquiries, mudslides, and smoothies.
The machine is powerful and seemingly high quality. I feel it will last a long time. It does take some practice getting your recipies correct. Maybe its just me, but I also can NOT differentiate the drinks from the four different settings. A drink in the mudslide setting has the same texture as a Margarita....and etc. So I felt that was a waste for me. With the larger Ice Hopper thats nice, but easily available for the Key West version. I would rather have extra blending Jars as they are small and what I go through the most. The Key west seems to have the best matching ice reservoir for the blending jar. The drip through water catcher is nice... but very difficultt to clean. Its too narrow to wash by hand, you need to use a long handled something(minor inconvenience I guess).
Performance is nice. Its powerful and the ice shaver works well. very well actually/ But that too is extremely difficult to clean... If it comes out to clean, I cant figure mine out...so its pretty much just sticking a cloth it there to swap up melted ice, and hand pick out leftover ice. Its tricky as supports and the big blade can get you.
Also, probably the most fustrating thing is the ice hopper does not line up nicely with the blending jar opening. Its off about a 1/4 inch, but just enough for liquid to jump out when machine fires up. I was told I had too much liquid, but it does it no matter how much liquid I have in it. I now have to put the lid on the mixing jar at an angle so it lines up with the hopper, but this leaves an imperfect seal on the jar, and for full serving mixes it wants to come out the side of the lid.
Its also a big unit. We dont store appliances on our counter(actually wont fit under the counter wit the ice hopper on it), and we were limited as to where this unit would fit in our pantry... but thats fine, we made room. When mixing, the ice only feature is nice as you can really make a nice slushy drink for yourself or the kids if you wish. I pretty much only use the ice only and blend only buttons now, as the programmed settings either dont add enough ice for our taste or mixes it up too much. The no spill blending jar is not really no spill. It has a spout, but the glass is thick(quality), and that leads to dripping down the side when pouring. I would like to see them invent a high quality blending jar with a spout for pouring(as seen on cheap blenders)... now that would be the last great feature they would need to add.
I wish I had gotten the Key West to save money, but live and learn. Its a solid, decent looking machine that seems durable for years of use. I can live with its shortcomings operationally, but everytime I make a drink I cant get past the fact the blending jar does not line up perfectly with the ice hopper. I called the Manufacturer and they told me it in fact doesnt line up....That would be my clue to fix that, or not put it on the market at nearly $400.
Worth $400...NO...$300...NO... $200...sure, because of its powerful motor and expected lifespan. If you dont use it often its not worth it. The lower priced version at less than $200 would be perfect. But when using this often, you can justify a larger price. What else is out there like it anyhow???

Kick-start the party by serving up restaurant-quality frozen concoctions with this unique, easy-to-use appliance. Far more than just an ordinary blender, the unit automatically shaves ice and blends up to 36 ounces of a favorite frosty drink, all at the touch of a button. Simply fill the top reservoir with ice, pour the ingredients into the glass jar, and select the amount and type of beverage. Choose from four pre-programmed drink cycles--margaritas, daiquiris, mudslides, or smoothies--and either a full pitcher or experiment with small batches using the one-, two-, or three-drink settings. Hit the automatic Shave-N-Blend switch, and the machine automatically mixes the right proportion of ice with ingredients and for the perfect amount of time. The shaved ice ensures better drink consistency--no more chunks or watery drinks. For party guests who like thicker or thinner drinks, the manual "shave only / blend only" toggle switch allows for easily customizing beverages by adding more shaved ice or blending longer.
Crafted from durable ABS plastic in a premium brushed-nickel finish, the unit features a die-cast aluminum base, which provides a stable footprint, and a heavy-duty die-cast aluminum shaver paddle and lower blending coupler that handle the power of the dual motors. Other highlights include simple front-access controls, a large-capacity reservoir that holds ice for mixing 72 ounces of frozen drinks between refills, and a 36-ounce thick-walled retro-styled glass blending jar with a generous handle and drip-free spout. The blending jar and its components clean up easily by hand or in the dishwasher, and the rest of the unit quickly wipes clean. Accessories include one shot glass, a quick set-up guide, a recipe guide, an instruction manual, four coasters, and drink charms in a tin can. The 700-watt frozen concoction maker measures 14 by 9 by 20 inches and carries a one-year warranty.

Mr. Coffee TM75 3 Quart Iced Tea Maker Review

Mr. Coffee TM75 3 Quart Iced Tea Maker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had the old one with the orange top. That one has a top basket to hold the tea bags which incorporates a side lever to plug the bottom drain hole, and an overflow channel so just the last couple of cups steep the tea until you pull the lever to release them. The new one with the blue basket has done away with that lever (I'm guessing to cut costs) and just put a little bit smaller hole at the bottom. They also tell you to use a coffee filter in the basket in addition to the teabags themselves, which after all are little paper filters. This is probably to slow down the run-out of the tea to help it steep it a little bit longer. My favorite combination of bags is one bag or Celestial Seasons Red Zinger, one Lipton Mango, and two Red Rose decaf's. In the old one I would let this combination of tea steep for maybe 10 minutes, and it came out perfectly. Using the same bags with the new one makes *really* tasteless, watery tea.
I just found a new model that makes 3 quarts and has a dial on the front for what they call "brew strength". This is a decided advantage over the other revised model. Also, you get a quart more of tea per cycle. You pour the water directly into the unit, where there is a window on the front with markings for 1, 2 and 3 quarts. The container has markings for how much ice to use for 1, 2 and 3 quarts. This is a better design, IMHO. Also, the pitchers are shorter, so fit in more places in your fridge, and the handles don't attach at the pitcher bottom, so you can nest them for storage. This is a big advantage over the old style. The new one comes with 2 pitchers. You can turn them both upside-down over the base unit to save even more storage space.
My recomendation: don't buy the newer 2 quart blue basket model. Hold out for the 3 quart model. And here's the kicker- I found mine at Wal-Mart for $2.00 less than Target was selling the 2 quart model!
Once you get into the habit of drinking iced tea instead of soda, you'll never go back. The savings in calories, money and hassle of returnable bottles and cans will have you hooked.

Wagner 905 1,500-Watt On-Demand Power Steamer and Cleaner Review

Wagner 905 1,500-Watt On-Demand Power Steamer and Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First let me say... I am an agonizer-analyzer. I read all of the reviews out there on Amazon and the web that I can find. I was down to this... the Shark vs. Wagner steamers. Both seemed similar in reviews... I saved $5 bucks by purchasing the Wagner. I received it 1 day earlier then expected. I opened the box and dug in (yes, I am also a person that doesn't necessarily read the instructions... until I can't get something to work that is.) Guess what? EVERYTHING worked without reading the instructions. Note to the wise, it is probably best if you do. I have since gone back to ensure I was operating the machine safely and correctly.
I LOVE IT! When people say in their reviews that they couldn't stop cleaning stuff, it is SOOOOOO true. These are the things I have cleaned so far. 3 kitchen sinks. I couldn't believe how clean they became. They are all stainless and shining like mad. I really do believe they are clean enough to eat out of them (not that I would). I have granite counters with this itty bitty grout between the sinks and the counters. I didn't realize they used white grout... oh my gosh, they look like they were just put in and they are 11 years old.
What else? Yes, I didn't stop there. I went over to the stove. It is stainless steel with gas fixtures and iron grates. Do you know how many cleaners I have purchased for the black metal top that have never made it look like it was really totally clean? MANY, MANY, MANY. This machine did it! And I honestly have to say, I didn't put any real elbow grease in at all. It lifted stains that I thought were permanent. It also removed a burn mark in the stainless steel which had been there for at least 3 years (with a lot of scrubbing that didn't take it away). And, after using the machine, it was really only a matter of wiping a little water residue away.
I really like the length of the handle/hose. I left it on top of one counter and was able to walk around the kitchen without worrying if the yellow beauty was going to fall off the counter or not reach where I wanted to take it. Gotta LOVE IT!
Ok, the above were only a few things that I cleaned in the first 15 minutes of opening the box. I probably could have cleaned more but I figured I would save my joy for another day.
A few other comments... I read a review that it was loud to operate. The machine itself doesn't make any noise. It isn't like a motor is going while you are trying to clean. The only noise that is made is the high-pressure steam coming out of the nozzle. What do these people really expect? Hello.... It was music to my ears because of the clean-up it was doing. I can imagine that you wouldn't want to be locked in a small closed in space for long... but hey, it didn't take that long to see it sparkle.
This truly is a great investment, fun to use with FANTASTIC results.

Hamilton Beach 68220 1.5-Quart Capacity Ice Cream Maker, White Review

Hamilton Beach 68220 1.5-Quart Capacity Ice Cream Maker, White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
OK, first off, all the 1.5qt ice cream makers on the market -- this one, Cuisinart's, and Krups' -- are fundamentally the same. It's a metal bucket full of some fluid that you put in the freezer; it gets very cold, cold enough to freeze 1.5qts of ice cream mix. That, and it's a motor with a mixing arm. That's really it.
So I figured, when I bought this one, that I was getting a deal; it's the cheapest of the three. Now that I've used it a few times, I'm wishing I'd just splurged, spent the extra twenty bucks, and gotten either of the others.
The mixing blade on this model doesn't seem to actually mix very well. I made a cantaloupe sherbet last night and I looked into the bowl as the arm turned, and it was just shoving the sherbet around in a circle. It wasn't churning. The sherbet wasn't frozen solid or anything, it was still pretty slushy. The arm just seems poorly designed.
I think the motor's pretty weak, too. It turns so slowly that it doesn't need to be very strong, they just gear it way down and even a weak motor can push pretty hard. But this routinely gets stuck on bits of ice cream that freeze in a layer on the bottom of the bucket. I made a frozen yogurt, which you have to put in the bucket to start (vs. pouring it through the opening while it's running) because of the thickness of the yogurt, and it had real problems churning after that. I ended up having to churn it by hand with a spatula for a while at the end.
Finally, there are just design details that aren't very good about this. The top of the motor / lid assembly is sloped, and the on/off switch is on that surface and protrudes a bit.
When you take that motor / lid off and set it down, the obvious way to do it is to rest it on its top (with the mixing arm sticking up.) This invariably hits that switch and turns it on. Whenever I'm taking it off, I'm trying to move quickly, stir the ice cream or scoop it off into a container to put in the freezer, so it's always irritating to take that lid off, quickly set it down, and have it turn on, the mixing arm starts turning, ice cream splatters, etc. This happens every time. There's not really a better way to set it down. So I have to unplug it whenever I want to put it down on the counter. It's just not very well thought-through.
Similarly, the locking mechanism involves pivoting that big blue arm up and over from one side to the other, which is cumbersome; the electric cord gets in the way, and even when you get it right, it's not a terribly snug fit; the motor can rock back and forth a bit.
Overall, you get what you pay for, and the other brands really aren't that much more expensive. Don't be a tightwad like me; splurge for one of them instead of this.

Cuisipro Donvier Electronic Yogurt Maker Review

Cuisipro Donvier Electronic Yogurt Maker
Average Reviews:

After reading Mirielle Guiliano's memoir about food, entitled "French Women Don't Get Fat" and feeling annoyance over the loss of Total Greek Yogurt on the shelves of my local Whole Food (this is temporary), I decided to buy this yogurt maker and simply make my own.
The procedure is a simple one; heat some milk until bubbles appear on the side of the pan and steam actually rises; take off the stove and pop in the included thermometer. When the milk temperature lowers to a specific window indicated on the thermometer, add some milk to 2 tablespoons of purchased plain yogurt or yogurt starter. Mix and then add to the milk in the pan.
As the yogurt maker has slots for 8 containters with lids, simply pour an equal amount of the milk from the pan, put on the lids, cover the yogurt maker and plug the machine in.
The machine sits on a counter; I advise parking it in a place where the digital controls are not interferred with as just one little push will turn the whole thing off. I set my yogurt to "cook" for 14 hours. The result: Great consistancy and flavor that matches store bought without the preservatives and other additives.
The machine includes includes instructions on how to make flavored yogurt; it seems simple, but I have not tried it.
Bottom line: this machine does the trick with little or no fuss. I also purchased the yogurt cheese maker which will allow me to turn my homemade yogurt into a spread that I can use on bread in the AM. Doesn't get any better!

Reliable and temperature controlled, this electronic appliance makes great-tasting homemade yogurt using only the freshest ingredients and without artificial additives or preservatives. The yogurt maker can make up to 6 cups of yogurt with the option of creating up to eight different flavors at a time. The taste of the yogurt will vary depending on the milk used, the type of starter used, how long the yogurt is left to set, and any flavoring added. Experimenting with these different elements allows for creating favorite personal recipes.
The included thermometer stirrer takes the guesswork out of making yogurt at home. To use, place the stirrer in the milk until the red bulb is immersed. The "add starter" level on the stirrer indicates when the milk is exactly the right temperature to add the yogurt starter. The electronic yogurt maker also features a digital LCD display with an electric timer, a warning beep that sounds 5 and 10 minutes before the end of the cycle, and an automatic shut-off function at the end of the cooking cycle. The unit's safety features include its polarized plug to reduce the risk of electrical shock and a short power-supply cord to reduce risk resulting from tripping over a longer cord.
The compact unit comes with a heater base, a thermometer stirrer, eight jars with lids, and a unit cover. To clean, the yogurt maker should not be immersed in water, simply wash by hand with a mild detergent and a damp cloth. The thermometer stirrer, the cover of the yogurt maker, and the jar lids should also be washed by hand, but the yogurt containers are dishwasher-safe. A user manual with recipes is also included. The electronic yogurt maker measures 6 by 11-1/2 by 4-1/2 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Progressive International PLP-1 Freezer Pop Maker Review

My daughter is allergic to food dye, and she can't eat a some brands of popsicles. We needed to make our own. I had the Lickity Sip, but had lost half the plastic "sticks". I didn't replace it with that one since I didn't want to search the yard looking for the plastic ones every time they ate outside. So, I wanted one that used wooden sticks. This is great. It makes a lot of pops at a time. You can't tell from the description or pictures, but the molds are all connected in a metal frame. Some people complained that the sticks get stuck, or popped up. I didn't have a problem with them popping up, so I don't pre-soak them. If they did pop up, I think I would put something on top to hold them down while freezing, a bag of frozen Veggies maybe. Others complained the stick holes were too small, I used a flat-head screwdriver to widen the holes a little. It worked great. Some have complained that they have to run it under water to loosen the Pops. I think thats true of any popsicle mold. I am very pleased with this product. It makes 8 Pops at a time, so I can make 4 each full size Pops for my 7-year old and 1/2 size ones for my 2-year old.

There are two serious issues with this item which minimizes it's value.
First, the power is only 450 watts, which is about the same as the normal household blender. The people who have been writing these positive reviews - reviews upon which I relied when I bought this thing - seem like they have never heard of a blender or food processor. The bottom line with regards to power is indisputable - this is the same wattage as a weak blender. Regardless of what people are saying, bear this in mind - no more power than a blender. That's the biggest problem.
Second, the position of the blades relative to the size of the containers does not crush ice into snow as stated (unless you are willing to continually remove the motor and lid, and reposition the ice and/or the contents) and does not chop veggies or anything else evenly.
I tried to crush ice into snow. After repositioning the contents 4 times, I still had chunks of ice (the ice I started with was already crushed ice from our freezer dispenser). So yes, you'll get some snow. But you'll also get so many chunks of ice that it makes this thing useless relative to a blender. When I chopped veggies, the size difference was annoying. Any attempt to more finely chop the larger pieces liquified the smaller pieces.
Here's the thing. If you want to truly crush ice into snow, you need a professional blender (as you see in coffee shops or smoothie outlets). Amazon carries them, they operate on 1000 watts, and cost $200. The base motor (with blade) has to be wider than traditional blenders and the container wider throughout. The idea of 2 or 3 tiers of blades does not help in this regard.
If you want to chop veggies, you need a good food processor where the blades are proportionate to the container. These blades are far too spread apart to chop evenly.
One more thing. This product comes with 3 separate containers for different purposes. You'll need 2-3x the storage space of an ordinary blender.
The Amazon ad says that this lists for $69.95 (as of today). I paid $59.95 at Kohls and had a 30% off coupon. I also had $10 of Kohls cash that I used. That means my cost was about $32 before tax.
And I'm still taking it back.
Beware of some of these reviews. I mean, I have yet to read reviews that were so hyped up. I have to wonder about the origin. Just use common sense and if you still wat to try it, make sure you save the box and receipt.

Aroma Soft-Serve Ice Cream Maker - AIC-107 Review

Aroma Soft-Serve Ice Cream Maker - AIC-107

Decided to give this product a try despite the mixed reviews from various sites. The mixing paddle broke during the first use and the canister gasket did not seal properly which resulted in the liquid ice cream mixture leaking all over the counter and producing a sticky mess that had to be cleaned up. All-in-all this was a very disappointing and frustrating experience. We will be returning this item immediately.

These are nice snow cone cups. They are plastic, not paper, so they don't fall apart when wet and I can rinse them out and reuse them for several different flavor combinations, which is great for kids since they want to try some of everything. I like the tigers blood syrup for my snow cone. Tigers Blood Snow Cone Syrup

My aunt purchased one of these machines from K-Mart and had never used it and agreed to let me try it out since I had been wanting to make home made ice cream. Everyone raved about how I had made the most creamiest and delicious home-made ice cream with this machine on my first try. So I went to K-Mart and bought one for myself which was on sale for $20. I made the same recipe and had followed the same routine of pre-freezing the canister, paddle, and lid as well as chilling my ice cream. This time there was a lot of crystals on the bottom of the ice cream maker, but it still came out nicely. But when I go to use my machine for the second time it continuously stopped rotating during the beginning of the process so I couldn't actually make any ice cream. I tried time and time again to reposition the canister, but it would rotate once or twice, then stop. Also this time chunks of rock salt and ice would pop out of the machine and the ice even caused huge dents in the canister so I had to return it. It isn't worth it if the machine works maybe a handful of times. Having to worry about keeping the motor dry and away from melting ice, plus dealing with cleaning up all the ice and rock salt which was horrible on my hands is having me look into other machines such as the one offered by Cusinart. Very disappointed this didn't continue to work properly since it would've been nice to have a large 4-quart maker.

Double Flavor Ice Cream Machine Review

I was really excited when i bought this. It looked really cool. Well I followed the directions exatly. The machine kept jamming up and stopping. I checked the manual and did everything it said in troubleshooting. My friends that were over wanting homemade ice cream checked it out too. Eventually the motor burnt out and we ended up with nothing, and this was the first time i used it. I was pretty bummed out about it. I've been trying to look for info about it online, but it hasn't been easy. So sadly i would not recommend this item.
