Blendtec The Professional's Choice 1560-Watt Total Blender Review

Blendtec The Professional's Choice 1560-Watt Total Blender
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a powerful blender, and is comparable to the VitaMix. I love the square design of the container, because it is easy to clean - way easier to clean than the VitaMix, and the blade at the bottom is not sharp, so I don't nick myself when cleaning the bottom of the blender. It is also much easier to scrape the blended goodness out of the bottom of the blender. But I don't like the lid design. The lid is flat and sits flush against the top of the blender. It gets splattered from the force of the blended ingredients. Makes a mess when you open it. This is a real problem when blending in between adding ingredients. Also, the plunger sometimes IS needed - even with a BlendTec, although Blendtec says it is not needed because of the variable speeds on its blender settings. There are times when I wish I had the plunger to just push things down while the blender is on. Instead, I have to take the lid off, which is dripping all over with blended goo, thus making a mess, so I can stir the ingredients because there is no plunger to push the food down into the blades like the VitaMix.
I have owned a Vitamix for 15 years, and it has proven to be a workhorse. The Blendtec seems to be just as strong, and I welcome it to my kitchen. It seems to do an even better job of grinding grains than the Vitamix. No "dry" container is needed. You just use the same container for both wet and dry ingredients. You don't really need a grain mill if you have the Blendtec, as it really does a very good job of blending grains and dry beans very quickly. It also makes nut butters almost instantly.
Overall, the Blendtec is extremely powerful, and meets my needs for what I use it for - I do daily green smoothies. I just wish it had a different lid, and a plunger.

I have an expensive and large Oster blender that I no longer use due to this Tribest blender. It is small. It cleans fast, unlike my Oster, and it is powerful considering its size. I use it daily, it has a small footprint on the counter, and it blends what you need for one person in the serving cup. I also use the serving cups and lids even when I haven't used the blender. They are very convenient tumblers.

I've now owned four of these. Each has had the motor die. One after a single day. The longest was six months. The system is a good one. The bottle works well and is a good size. But, the motor simply can't handle regular use.
You can limp it along by putting fewer frozen pieces in -- say under half the bottle -- or by only mixing for a few seconds, before walking away and letting it rest. But, in all, you shouldn't have to baby it quite so much.
I'll probably try another type next to see if it works better.

Breville 800BLXL Die-Cast Hemisphere 2-Speed Blender with 67-Ounce Polycarbonate Jar Review

Breville 800BLXL Die-Cast Hemisphere 2-Speed Blender with 67-Ounce Polycarbonate Jar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After reading the previous reviews, I was a bit leery of buying this blender. I wanted the best, period. First, this is in my opinion the best looking and I leave it on my counter top, replacing a Kitchen Aid which I gave to my sister.
The first thing I did was to fill the jug with ice to the top. I pushed the ice button and within a few minutes, I had finely grated snow with no large chunks at all. It would have been a perfect snow cone. I went on to put in Strawberries, soft tofu, Yogurt, Soy vanilla ice cream, honey and a little non fat milk on top of the shaved ice. It made one of the best smoothies I have ever had. I have had numerous complements from my wife and neighbors on the smoothies this produces.
I also put in a whole large sweet onion quartered and three cups of large skinned tomatoes, some mushrooms, corn and whole garlic cloves, along with some essential seasoning and made a perfect tomato soup. The consistency was creamy and consistently smooth throughout. No chunks of any of the ingredients, including the corn kernels or garlic cloves. It was wonderful.
I have not had this very long. About two weeks now, but it has gotten a lot of use in that time. I can not speak to the long term reliability of the product, but I have had other Breville products and they are consistently top drawer. The one thing I do think that Breville might have misjudged is that the jar is polycarbonate, a fancy word for plastic. It does seem to be a very sturdy jar and perhaps, there is a certain logic to it. When I transport a full jug of soup from the blender to a bowl or what ever, the weight is quite manageable. Not really an issue for me, but I could see it for others, especially elderly or those with physical limitations. The fit of the blade to the base and jar is clean and the design seems to be very well thought out. There is a plastic wrench supplied in the event the blade base is stuck on the jar, but I have not needed it yet for cleaning and there have been no leaks even after storing liquids in the jar for a period with just hand tightening.
It is only a two speed but in doing some research it seems that most multi button blenders have a low speed and 12 high speeds which are the same. This is done for the button loving public who think more is better. The 1000 watts is not really a dependable measure of the power of the motor since it really only tells you the power consumption of the motor and not the output. It seems to have more than enough power for the toughest jobs however and is heavy enough not to move if I do walk away from it to get an ingredient to place in the top opening while it is running.
Breville seems to have come up with a nice design of the blades and bottom of the container since it moves the material from the top to the bottom and vice versa for even cutting quite well on it's own and the hole in the top makes it easy to insert new ingredients with the motor running. I will say that this blender does everything I ask of it and better than my high end Kitchen Aid Blender which left small chunks of things like ice and garlic or corn kernels, etc.
If I have a problem with the motor breaking down as the others had, ( which based on my other Breville appliances, I doubt will be a problem), I will come back and comment on it, but for now, this is the nicest blender I have ever owned and I highly recommend it. In my opinion well worth the extra money.

This is an awesome blender. It blends stuff like you've never seen before and I am really pleased with it. But holy cow is it LOUD!! The cat hates me. I got a pair of earmuffs from the shooting supply place to wear while using it. Maybe overkill, but I think that using it twice a day without them would result in hearing damage eventually. I wish they sold an enclosure for this one like they do for the commercial ones....I'd definitely buy one.
I bought this because I had a juicer and liked it. But I felt that tossing all that pulp and fiber had to be making me miss out on a lot of health benefits. And just trying to spoon some of it back into the juice doesn't work, it's gross. This blender blends whole fruits and vegetables wonderfully, I can still get the fiber and in a drinkable form.
After I bought this, I read a webpage where they talked about blending an avocado WITH the pit, and I tried it. It works, I ended up with an amazingly smooth mousse-like creamy pudding. Not something I'd do every day, but it was very interesting. I have been making kale banana blueberry smoothies for breakfast and it blends everything into one homogenous shake. No bits of leaves, chunks of stuff, etc. I'm enjoying it. I just wish it wasn't so loud.

Monterrey MT45151 Blender and Smoothie Maker with 48-Ounce Plastic Jar and Serving Spigot Review

Monterrey MT45151 Blender and Smoothie Maker with 48-Ounce Plastic Jar and Serving Spigot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this unit to make smoothies, as I did not have a lot to spend at the time, and I believe that as long as you treat the unit with care, it should last for awhile.
It actually has the equivalent of 6 speeds, as on the right side is has the 3 speed and pulse buttons, and on the left, a High and Low button: 3 LOW AND 3 HIGH speeds.
The Blades in this unit are EXTREMELY sharp, and that is likely the key to it working as good as it does!
I will throw in a bunch of Grapes, a whole Kiwi, a couple of Kale leaves, a handful of Spinach, a half an Orange, a half a Banana and a whole but small Pear, 4 big ice cubes and a cup of water.
I start it on low, (or sometimes repeatedly hit the pulse button) where it pulls everything down in about 15 seconds, and then I will shift it to the highest speed to grind everything to a liquid, which takes about a minute and a half.
After running it that long, the motor seems to emit a strange odor, but that seems to be decreasing. It is pretty noisy on the highest speed.
I then take the blade unit off of the bottom of the container and rinse everything thoroughly, then let air dry.
The spigot top will unscrew and can be cleaned this way, but since I never use it, I keep it closed, then just open it when rinsing.
The only part that is seemingly vulnerable to a leak is the gasket that goes between the blade assembly and the container. If you over-tighten, it will deform and leak. If you don't tighten it enough, it will leak. It took me a day or two to figure how much to tighten it. You can see the gasket and it's contact to the container while tightening. If it starts to appear wiggly, you are over-tightening it. The seal between the actual blade shaft and base has not leaked.
I know this is not a Vita-Mix or Blendtec, but it will make good smoothies with that crazy sharp blade, and grind ice to non-existence in short order.
The only question now is, "how long will it last?", especially in daily use.
I bought this after seeing a Blendtec demo at Costco and wanted to see how I would fare personally by adding fruits and vegetables to my diet each day via smoothies, and I can tell you that I have lost 3 pounds this week so far, and feel absolutely great as compared to the sluggish me before.
The price I paid was about an 1/8th of the Blendtec, but don't think for one minute that the quality is anywhere close. It works, but for how long???

Whether used for breakfast smoothies before work, protein shakes after a workout, or frozen cocktails with friends on a Friday night, this convenient appliance might be best left out on the counter for easy, everyday access. Furthermore, the blender comes with a large 48-ounce plastic blending jar, which features a secure-fitting lid, a non-drip pouring spout, and a mess-free dispensing spigot for serving thick, blended drinks right into a glass. I'm very please with this little blender. Holds quite a bit and was powerful enough to handle hard, frozen fruit. Haven't tried ice yet but I know it will do great. I was so excited to use my smoothie maker, and was almost instantly disapointed. I added all of the ice at once and it had a hard time blending the ice all up. The stir stick came in handy, without it I don't think the ice would have gotten chopped. Once I finally had the drink blended, it was to perfection - no ice chunks, which was very nice. Then the time came to use the spout. The smoothie dripped out extrememly slow - it wasn't worth waiting for. Pouring it out of the carafe was much easier. Overall, it's a good blender and really does a nice job on ice - but the spout leaves much to be desired...

O.K. Nobody out there could have been rooting for this little machine more than me. My husband bought this for me for Christmas (2005). I was thrilled...until we tried to use the thing. First of all, forget any of the recipies in the book. On that day we tried the very first one. All of a sudden, the machine started jumping around and making a loud clicking noise. We stopped it and looked and there was ice frozen all around the outside of the container. We melted that off and tried again. Same thing. Now, 4 months later, we have managed to get the machine to actually make slushies (within 30 minutes) only about 30% of the time. This machine will only make them with very high sugar solutions...even pop takes awhile. (We've been successful at using Kool-Aid with only about 3/4 as much water as it calls for.) The instructions say to keep adding ice/salt until it gets about an inch from the top. NO! We have found through trial and error that any ice/salt more than 1/2 way up the container will cause this finnicky machie to freeze up and stop. The slushies are of a good consistency when they actually work, but our whole family of 6 agrees that this is a better idea than actual product. Takes A LONG time and 32 oz of fluid will only make slushies for 1-2 people unless you give them out in tiny paper cups. Not good for parties, etc. like it says on the box. Kids would be crying all over. Also, the machine is VERY loud. Hard to have a conversation and you need to constantly check it and add tiny bits of ice. A real pain. The pour spout is nice, and it is easy to clean, but the frustration level is so high on this machine. Following their little instruction book to the letter just won't work. Like I said, everyone in our house has tried it, and it is just LOUD and FRUSTRATING...especially since when you crave a slushie, you CRAVE a slushie and want it then...not maybe, if you are lucky, in 30 minutes or so. Machine needs improvements...I'd spend my money on a better machine. Sad to say, but only 2 stars.

I just threw a party last weekend at my new apartment - I got this blender cuz it was big and looked nice (and I thought it might inspire some creative margaritas!)
The blender worked great and since our friends kept talking about how good it looked, I figured I'd give it a good review. The blender jar is huge (I think it's 1.5 liters) - it's perfect for parties. It also has some rubber feet to keep it from shaking and bouncing around. We made a ton of frozen drinks and it handled ice cubes without any problems. I'm using it for my daily smoothies too.

Hamilton Beach 52147H Dual Wave Versatile Blender, Silver Review

Hamilton Beach 52147H Dual Wave Versatile Blender, Silver

(More customer reviews)
There are two types of people I feel sorry for. The one type are the people who give this product a negative review because they can't follow some simple instructions, and the other being the people who will be put off buying this blender because of the first. I have been using this device a lot for a while now and the bottom line is that it works great. Just as with anything else, as long as you take care of it properly then it will last a while. The whole thing is extremely easy to put together and take apart. I was able to figure it out with common sense and not even reading the directions the first time I put it together. I later went back and read the instructions to confirm what I had already figured out. I have blended using both the cups and the big blender jar and I am proud to report that it has fully blended all of my fresh AND frozen fruit until totally smooth with no big chunks of fruit. As a lesson to the other negative reviewers here are a few common sense points I have put together for you and others that may have problems. #1 - A blender is supposed to be loud (in case you have never used one before) #2 - If you are blending a smoothie, the more you blend/pulse the smoother it will be! If you only blend for 10 seconds then you will have a lot of chunks of fruit. There's a reason why most if not all of the smoothie recipes tell you to add liquid as well. I RARELY write reviews on amazon but I felt compelled to after reading the ridiculous negative reviews of this blender. Enjoy!

From top to bottom, the Hamilton Beach Dual Wave\' Blender is all about versatility and power. Versatility because it's a blender that's perfect for making drinks for a crowd and then it's a personal blender that lets you customize and blend two different drinks at once. Power because it doubles up with two sets of blades and two motors for a variety of blending and serving options. The Dual Wave\' Blender switches from an 80-ounce jar to dual 16-ounce single serve jars with ease. At 80 ounces, the pitcher is double the size of most blender jars, yet its powerful dual blades and dual motors (delivering 1000 watts peak power) are able to blend an entire pitcher-full in less than 30 seconds. That means less time blending and more time mingling with guests. With its convenient dispensing spout in place, drinks are served right into glasses, or for traditional pouring, the dishwasher-safe spout can be removed and capped off. When the party's over and it's time for one or two servings, the Dual Wave\' blender is ready to make two totally different recipes. How about a strawberry smoothie for you and a chocolate milkshake for the little one? That's easy. With two blending stations, each with individual speed dial and blade set, one or two drinks can be blended at a time, exactly the way each needs to be. If all this blending power and versatility isn't enough, the Dual Wave\' blender is also equipped with a high-performing Dual Wave~Action system. This ensures that your ingredients are thoroughly blended for smooth results and no ice chunks every time.

Hamilton Beach 51101 Single-Serve Blender Review

Hamilton Beach 51101 Single-Serve Blender
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The other day I impulsivley went and bought a Hamilton Beach Juicer. When I got it home I hemmed and hawed, wondering if I should use it or not. Did I really want it? I started looking around the internet and realized what I really wanted was something to make smoothies or other fruit concoctions. I researched a few things like the Magic Bullet and Ultimate Chopper but both had mixed reviews. I was tempted to buy the Tribest blender because it had some good reviews here at Amazon but I could only find it online and it's listed at $60 - much more than what I really wanted to spend.
Instead, I went to my local Walmart and to see what they had. I saw the Hamilton Beach Personal Blender and it was priced for only $13.67 so I was interested. It's just me, so I don't need a huge and heavy unit taking up what little counter space I have. I also figured since that if I bought it at Walmart and that if I didn't like it I could easily return it.
I brought it home, looked over the manual and attempted my first smoothie. I threw in milk, strawberries, frozen raspberries and hit the button. I needed to blend it some more because of the raspberries being frozen. Live and learn, I should have done those first. I put in some ice and blended it some more. It came out wonderful!
The jar itself can be used as a serving glass. I probably will only use it in that manner at home. It has no handle so I'd be afraid I'd drop it when I was out. Then the blender would be worthless because the blade is in the jar.
* Jar twists and locks into place on the base
* Comes with a travel lid to take your drink on the go
* Cord wraps around the base
* Not intended for all food - manual says not to process hard foods such as cheese, crackers or meat. A maximum of 12 tablespoons can be ground at a time. Do not try to mash potatoes, mix stiff dough, whip egg whites, grind raw meat or extract juice from fruit or veggies.
* Container cover has filler cap that can be removed to insert small objects when blending
* Can not use big chunks of ice. You need to break them down. I have an ice tray where the shape is a small circle (half ball) and it was fine. Perhaps this is what you can use those holiday themed ice trays for. Some of those sizes which I have seem I think would work in this.
* NOT dishwasher safe - but easy clean up - rinse, put water and soap in jar, blend for a minute, empty, rinse again and you're done.
* No complicated speeds or choices - one push button
* I can't find it on the box or in the manual but according to Amazon, the motor has 175 watts of power
I just went and made another smoothie! Banana, Vanilla soy milk, little bit of chocolate syrup and instant coffee. Yummy!
This one site has TONS of recipes that you can use with this blender. You just have to play with the recipes because a lot of them are meant to be multiple servings.

While this might not do what a full size blender can, this is a great blender for smoothies, drinks, shakes and to grind coffee. I love that it's small, the cord wraps around the base and I can use this thing at night and not wake up the neighbors!
I just came back from the grocery store and picked up some more fruit... what else can I make???

Back to Basics SM700 Signature II Smoothie Maker, Black Review

The only complaint I would have for this smoothie maker is it took way too long to come out on the market. This is a great smoothie maker for the price. It chops through ice and frozen fruit like it is butter, never any ice chips. As long as frozen fruit and ice are allowed to sit in the liquid portion for about 20-30 seconds and then blended, there are no problems with chunks or smoothie maker motor failure.

Margaritaville DM3000 Tahiti Frozen Concoction Maker Review

Margaritaville DM3000 Tahiti Frozen Concoction Maker
Average Reviews:

Ok, so like almost everyone who is reading this review...my first thought was "Why am I going to pay THAT kind of money for a hyped up blender!" I can sum it up in two words...snowball fight!
Seriously though, I took the plunge and am not upset that I did. This makes a great addition to any party, whether it's a couple of friends, or a crowd. And nobody's walking around chewing on ice chips from their blender drinks! My kids love the shaved ice to play with, and it makes great snowcones/slushies.
Setup is easy, cleanup is easy (seriously), the only problem that I have found so far is creating the right recipes for the drinks. It comes with some standards...but I like to play!
Originally, my wife wanted to get a professional maker, but we found they were thousands of dollars. After buying the DM3000, we could care less about the profession model anymore...this one makes 3 different drinks in a cycle, is fun to watch, and easier to maintain! It is quick and effortless, especially if you pre-mix your drink ingredients and have them on standby.
In my opinion, if you have the extra money to spare, and you like to have friends over or have kids, this is a great product!

Margaritaville DM2000 Premium Frozen Concoction Maker Review

Margaritaville DM2000 Premium Frozen Concoction Maker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First, I would rate it a 3.5
I purchased this item as I was tired of low quality drink mixers... I purchased the FIJI as it was the newest model out. It has a larger Ice holder and different settings for margaritas, daquiries, mudslides, and smoothies.
The machine is powerful and seemingly high quality. I feel it will last a long time. It does take some practice getting your recipies correct. Maybe its just me, but I also can NOT differentiate the drinks from the four different settings. A drink in the mudslide setting has the same texture as a Margarita....and etc. So I felt that was a waste for me. With the larger Ice Hopper thats nice, but easily available for the Key West version. I would rather have extra blending Jars as they are small and what I go through the most. The Key west seems to have the best matching ice reservoir for the blending jar. The drip through water catcher is nice... but very difficultt to clean. Its too narrow to wash by hand, you need to use a long handled something(minor inconvenience I guess).
Performance is nice. Its powerful and the ice shaver works well. very well actually/ But that too is extremely difficult to clean... If it comes out to clean, I cant figure mine out...so its pretty much just sticking a cloth it there to swap up melted ice, and hand pick out leftover ice. Its tricky as supports and the big blade can get you.
Also, probably the most fustrating thing is the ice hopper does not line up nicely with the blending jar opening. Its off about a 1/4 inch, but just enough for liquid to jump out when machine fires up. I was told I had too much liquid, but it does it no matter how much liquid I have in it. I now have to put the lid on the mixing jar at an angle so it lines up with the hopper, but this leaves an imperfect seal on the jar, and for full serving mixes it wants to come out the side of the lid.
Its also a big unit. We dont store appliances on our counter(actually wont fit under the counter wit the ice hopper on it), and we were limited as to where this unit would fit in our pantry... but thats fine, we made room. When mixing, the ice only feature is nice as you can really make a nice slushy drink for yourself or the kids if you wish. I pretty much only use the ice only and blend only buttons now, as the programmed settings either dont add enough ice for our taste or mixes it up too much. The no spill blending jar is not really no spill. It has a spout, but the glass is thick(quality), and that leads to dripping down the side when pouring. I would like to see them invent a high quality blending jar with a spout for pouring(as seen on cheap blenders)... now that would be the last great feature they would need to add.
I wish I had gotten the Key West to save money, but live and learn. Its a solid, decent looking machine that seems durable for years of use. I can live with its shortcomings operationally, but everytime I make a drink I cant get past the fact the blending jar does not line up perfectly with the ice hopper. I called the Manufacturer and they told me it in fact doesnt line up....That would be my clue to fix that, or not put it on the market at nearly $400.
Worth $400...NO...$300...NO... $200...sure, because of its powerful motor and expected lifespan. If you dont use it often its not worth it. The lower priced version at less than $200 would be perfect. But when using this often, you can justify a larger price. What else is out there like it anyhow???
