-It is too hard for a 6 year-olds to use on their own. But for a 10 year-olds, probably fine. You need a bit of elbow grease for this.
-The ice tray that comes with it makes 2-3 medium size (maybe a 6oz foam cup?) snow cones.
-The shaved ice comes out nice and soft, not at all like crunchy ice chips.
-Easy clean up because there is no electricity. Just let it dry on a counter top.
-The top part that spins has a tendency to float up (or pop up) and while shaving the ice, you will have to re-tighten a couple of times. But, not a major problem for me.
Overall, a very reliable product.
